BHHS welcomed the Bricklayers (Local 8) of Illinois for a demonstration and hands-on activity today. BHHS students also learned that Local 8 provides apprenticeship opportunites while students are still in high school.
Our football team finished out our Start With Hello Week today. This was a great way to start our Friday!
Start With Hello Week on Thursday was with the volleyball team. They were very enthusiastic!
Congrats to Roland Thyer! Roland was given a board salute at last night's school board meeting as a "National Rural and Small Town Award" winner. He earned this honor due to his high GPA and outstanding performance on the PSAT, SAT, and Advanced Placement exams.

BHHS Spanish students recently participated in a fun lesson! Students ran a relay race where they would relay information about different Latin American traditions when it comes to the "Carrera de San Silvestre" or the "Running of the Bulls."
We had a pair of Minutemen getting the crowd fired up last night at the volleyball game! JV improved their record to 8-1 with a win over Tri City. Varsity played hard, but came up short. There is a home game next week on Monday and Thursday.

2022-2023 High School Yearbooks are here! There will be a pickup/signing event Monday, 9/18, at 5p.m. hosted by the PFK. If you ordered last year's HIGH SCHOOL yearbook join us for free popcorn and soda and have classmates sign your yearbook. This is our newly formed high school art club that meets after school periodically. We had 15 students.
The Bunker Hill FFA Chapter recently competed in a horse-judging contest where they placed 6th overall and Nick Rull placed 7th as an individual.
On Tuesday the Bunker Hill FFA Chapter traveled to Decatur, IL to attend the 2023 Farm Progress Show. There, they talked to various colleges, companies, and organizations all related to agriculture. This was a good opportunity to broaden their horizons and see the steps that are taken to promote the future of agriculture.
Mrs. Dissen's 8th grade Spanish class is having a fun time learning Spanish! They are using TPRS (Teaching Proficiency Through Reading and Storytelling), a platform that uses body movements to learn vocabulary. Who knew that the "chicken dance" could be used to learn Spanish!

The US Army and Army Reserve visited BHHS today. Some brave students participated in the "push up challenge" to earn a prize. BHHS thanks the US Army and Army Reserve for their service!
