Sixteen Bunker Hill High School students participated in the Olympiad event today. The competition challenged students’ problem solving, cooperative learning, and construction skills. During each task, the students were asked to rely on teamwork and prior knowledge to figure out how to complete unfamiliar tasks. Teams constructed, from a single sheet of copy paper, their strongest four-and-a-half-inch column to withhold the most weight. They also used their pizza box from lunch to construct their tallest freestanding tower.. There was also a relay race with whiffle balls and plastic gutters. The BHHS students displayed good skills in communication and creative thinking.
