Yesterday, two teams of 4 BHHS students competed in the Local ROE Olympiad sponsored by U of I. Students were tasked with several activities that challenged their critical thinking and creative skills throughout the day. We are very proud of their commitment and concentration with each and every activity.
Yesterday, some of our BHHS students ( Cora Timmermeier, Kayleigh Trimm, Madalynn Hilyard and Brennan Fulton) were chosen to attend the youth advisory council at the Capitol Building in Springfield, IL. They participated in a mock bill discussion and committee hearing. They also visited the house floor and met some representatives. Our Minutemen Fishing Team brought home some hardware yesterday by winning the MSM Conference Tournament! The boat with Zander Machota and Logan Miersch won the tournament with 3 fish weighing in at 12.53lbs! Also fishing yesterday was Brennan Fulton and Braydon Henfling.
Our Bass Fishing Team has been busy! Today they are participating in the MSM Conference Tournament at Sangchris Lake. They are currently 6th place in the state in the ICASSTT League and in 2nd place in the Central Division! Two of our anglers, Logan Miersch and Brennan Fulton are also on the All Star Leaderboard!
BHHS Coed Track last week and this week did some great things! Friday 4/18 in Staunton the following kids placed :
Boys medalists:
1st place 300 Intermediate Hurdles: Dylan Guess PR of 52.59
3rd place 300 Intermediate Hurdles: Braydon Henfling PR of 55.37
Girls medalists:
3rd place 4x100 meter relay. Payton Moore, Maya Henfling, Riley Pollard, Zoey Watkins PR of 56.14
2nd place 400 meter run: Maya Henfling 1:12.27
2nd place 800 meter run: Addie Sloan PR of 2:55.96
1st place 300 meter low hurdles: Zoey Watkins 50.75
On Tuesday 4/22 in Pawnee Zoey Watkins won the MSM Conference 300 Meter Hurdles. This is the third year she has been conference champion. Maya Henfling broke her school record in the girl's triple jump. Yesterday 4/23 in Gillespie Maya Henfling broke her school record again in the girls triple jump with a jump of 30ft 5.75 inches
Mrs. Eschbach took the "AP Seminar Games" winners to a reward breakfast at Denny's this morning. Students had a wonderful time reflecting on their hard work these past couple of months and are ready to finish the class strong!
Spring is here which means the FFA Plant Sale is just around the corner! The plant sale will be May 8th and 9th from 3-5 pm and then May 10th from 9-12pm. Can't make it those days no worries, contact Mrs. Brink for a specific time to drop by.
