This is our newly formed high school art club that meets after school periodically. We had 15 students.

The Bunker Hill FFA Chapter recently competed in a horse-judging contest where they placed 6th overall and Nick Rull placed 7th as an individual.

On Tuesday the Bunker Hill FFA Chapter traveled to Decatur, IL to attend the 2023 Farm Progress Show. There, they talked to various colleges, companies, and organizations all related to agriculture. This was a good opportunity to broaden their horizons and see the steps that are taken to promote the future of agriculture.

Mrs. Dissen's 8th grade Spanish class is having a fun time learning Spanish! They are using TPRS (Teaching Proficiency Through Reading and Storytelling), a platform that uses body movements to learn vocabulary. Who knew that the "chicken dance" could be used to learn Spanish!

Here is an opportunity for any athletes interested in playing in college.

Congratulations to the Minutemaids Tennis Team who beat East Alton-Wood River Tuesday night 3-0 in singles, and 1-1 in doubles!

The US Army and Army Reserve visited BHHS today. Some brave students participated in the "push up challenge" to earn a prize. BHHS thanks the US Army and Army Reserve for their service!

Picture Retakes for high school and 8th grade students are on September 27th. Retakes are for anyone who missed picture day on August 25th. Make sure you dress to impress!

Mrs. Melton's Pre-AP Algebra 1 high school class is learning about properties in math, and the students made posters to “sell that property." Students created a slogan and description of the property, showed 4 examples of the property, and added visual cues.

How sweet it is! Mr. Banwart's US History students used skittles to make a Jamestown lesson come alive. They learned how John Smith and the Virginia Company's use of incentives for hard work made the colony more productive and averted disaster. Great job students!

Congrats to Roland Thyer! Roland has earned the National Rural and Small Town Award from the College Board. Roland received this academic honor by earning a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher and outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and/or Advanced Placement exams. BHHS celebrated Roland's achievement today by giving him a "clap out" during passing periods. Way to go Roland!

Recently, the 8th grade art class participated in a fun "warm up" activity for drawing skills. Students drew cartoon characters from memory and then once again after seeing an actual image of them. Ms. Hanson reported that the class made great (and hilarious) improvement, which showed the importance of reference photos when drawing.

BHHS students Alanna Hoover, Lynzie Hill, and Danica Paul are getting energized with a coffee and muffin for their first day as Macoupin County CEO students! They are very excited for the opportunity. For more information on the CEO program, please visit: https://www.macoupinceo.com/

Seniors at Bunker Hill High School recently made affirmation rocks to add to Minnie the Rock Snake over at Wolf Ridge Elementary. Each rock is full of positive messages and colors to get our students excited about returning to school! We have some great student-leaders here at BHHS!

The BHHS Project Lead the Way-Engineering classes were challenged today with a fun and innovative group activity. Student groups were asked to build the tallest freestanding structure they could using the "rule of 15"--15 minutes, 15 marshmallows and 15 spaghetti noodles. As the school year continues, PLTW students will be participating in more challenging projects within time constraints and working with different groups of students. Here are students in action!

BHHS "Picture Day" is scheduled for Friday, August 25th for 8th-12th grade students. To order online, please visit: https://accessmyevent.com/R4SF29 or scan the available QR Code. Order forms are also available in the high school office. Thank you!

Good Afternoon Minutemen and Minutemaid Families! BHHS has added new student arrival and departure procedures for this school year. Student drivers will use a newly constructed, one way road near the tennis courts to enter and to exit the high school campus. Students considered as car riders will use the front of BHHS as the designated area to drop off or pick up students. Please notice the images for further clarification. We look forward to seeing students tomorrow for the first day of school!

The Class of 2027 attended a "High School 101" presentation last evening in James Hlafka Hall. The presentation included graduation requirements, recommended courses specific to college, trade school, military, or other career pathways, and how to be involved in several sports and activities at Bunker Hill High School. We thank the Class of 2027 for their participation!
