The September Student of the Month at Bunker Hill High School is John Raffety. John is the son of Kay Raffety and the late Matthew Raffety. He is also the oldest of his three siblings, Amelia Raffety, Edward Raffety, and William Sloan.
Throughout his high school career, John participated in scholastic bowl, drama club, art club, tennis, and student council. John participates in the Power of 15 program as well and has started
his macroeconomics class at Lewis and Clark Community College. Outside of school, John loves writing stories, trying to learn guitar, singing, and listening to music.
After high school, John plans on going to college for either a degree in computer science or a degree in business management to bring back the showbiz pizza style of family entertainment. If
that plan doesn’t work out, he plans on getting out into the music industry like his uncle, Doug Raffety. John’s fondest high school memory is getting a bite to eat and singing Hamilton and other musicals at Sage House after a drama performance or reading The Great Gatsby in his AP Literature & Composition class. The advice John Raffety has for underclassmen is, “Focusing hard on what others think of you is quite a bore, remember you only live once so live your life
the way you want to.”
