The November Student of the Month at Bunker Hill High School is Ashley Gerecke. She is the daughter of Juliann (Juli) and Anthony (Tony) Gerecke. She is the sister of McKayla Canania, Devyn Bryson, Emmy Yates, Katherine Gerecke, and Jessica Gerecke. She is the sister-in-law of Austin Yates and Riley Canania. She has three nephews: Finley, Lincoln, and Beckham.
During her time in high school, Ashley has participated in high school girls’ basketball, high school track and field, scholastic bowl, FCA, pep-band, class officer, key club officer, National Honor Society, and student council officer. Ashley has also participated in the American Legion Auxiliary as well as doing community service outside of school.
Ashley plans to attend SIUE in the fall of 2026 to get her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. When asked what her fondest memory in high school, she said, “It was when she and her friends go out to play basketball, and teach the boys some line dances for homecoming in the evening with their free time.” Ashley continued by saying, “I wouldn’t have been able to do it all without the love and support of my amazing family, friends, and teachers. They had all helped me so much without even realizing it. So I wanted to say a big thank you to all of them.”
