Principal's Message
Dear Bunker Hill High School Families,
What a great year to be a Minuteman or Minutemaid! As we embark on the 2025–2026 school year, I look forward to working alongside a faculty and support staff dedicated to providing an engaging and personalized education for our students. Most of all, I am eager to reconnect with our returning students and their families, and to welcome new families into a school community that values both tradition and the exciting opportunities available at BHHS.
While preparing for the upcoming school year, I had the privilege of placing a new (yet memorable) item in our trophy case. Dated March 5, 1980, the item is a front-page article from the Bunker Hill Gazette News, featuring a photo of overjoyed fans as the Minutemen basketball team celebrated their first regional title. The article also includes a photo of the Minutemaid basketball team and an encouraging message as they prepared for their own regional tournament. Yes, 1980 was a special year for BHHS, as both teams won their first regional titles. Though the classic team photos are in black and white, they revealed the outstanding spirit and support of the Bunker Hill community.
I am confident that in the 2025–2026 school year, our community will continue to support our schools in educating our most prized possession—our students.
I encourage all students and families to take advantage of the new opportunities at Bunker Hill High School. Please take a moment to explore the 2025 Career Pathway Handbook and BHHS Brochure.
I look forward to seeing you in August!
With Gratitude,
Matthew E. Smith, Principal
